Joliet Jim and Patty Blues took to the stage during the MOPAR Expo 07' Cruise Night event at Papa's.  The "Band" with a full compliment of horns and keyboards treated thecrowd to over 2 hours of "Chicago Style Blues"  The two were chased by local Police across town with lights and sirens blaring on their way to Papa's in their authentic 1974 Dodge Monaco "Cop Car".

It was a "Blues Brothers" tribute all night long.  They looked great, the music was awesome and the best was yet to come.

After the break, the arrival of the "King Bee's" brought the crowd to its feet with cheers as the two were driven up to the stage in the back of a Dodge "Rumble Bee" pick up.  The two "King Bee's" returned to the stage to complete the set.

A trip to "Bob's Country Bunker" would not be complete with some chicken wire fencing in place to protect the band.  The was a tear in the audience when the band sang out the words to "Stand By Your Man" and finished with "Rawhide".

             

They came in all shapes and sizes for the return of the MOPAR Expo Auto Show and Swap Meet at Papa's this year.  Now, here is a real "Vintage" Mopar. They lined up by body code and filled out the 13 different classes.  The "B" Body Stock class was the largest with Road Runners, Super Bee's, Chargers, Belvideres galore.  There were even a few that were bought new and still owned by the original purchaser.

         

The Swap Meet filled up quickly.  About 15 different vendors set up shop on Papa's paved parking lot.  It got hot out there so in 2008 we will plan on moving the vendors under the trees.  Lots of cars and parts for sale on Saturday at the Swap Meet.  We will be expanding the Swap Meet area of the show for 2008 and plan to have a larger selection of vendors on hand for both days.

          

       

Papa's held 3 of its "CRUZ-IN" Cruise night events for 2007 co-sponsored by your Home Town Proud IGA Grocers.  The cars came in and lined up for a few hours on music and fun.

Our third "CRUZ-IN" was held on August 1st.  A beautiful night with about 50 cars stopping in.  All of our events are presented free of charge to all participants and you get a goodie bag just for showing up.  There is also a charity raffle at each event to help support the local community.

Hot Dog Eating Contest

It was Hot Dogs for everyone at the 2nd Annual Papa's Dodge Jeep Viper All American Hot Dog Eating Contest presented by Capitol Lunch on June 30th.   Here the Papa's Associates contest takes place and look at them go.

Everyone got into the Hot Dog Eatin.  It was great fun and a few good laughs.  You only get 12 minutes.  These three liked their dogs with mustard and onions.

 

          

Some were dunkin, most were jamin, but it was Ramon Varga's (center) who took home the top spot as "The Big Dog" during the Papa's associates contest.  It was a cool 11 1/2 Martin Rosol Hot Dogs and IGA buns consumed in 12 minutes that earned him the crown for the 2nd year in a row.  Guida's provided the water to dunk in and the Pit Stop Diner prepared all of the competition food.

In the Men's Open Class, Shawn McLaughlin from Hartford took home the $25.00 first prize cash by consuming Martin Rosol Hot Dogs and IGA Hot Dog Buns in the 12 minute contest.  He also received a Certificate of Participation and a handsome wall plaque for his 1st Place win.

Famous' Dave's BBQ was an important part of the 1st and 2nd annual Papa's Used Car Sale
and Pig Out each fall. It was great fun, and the ribs were fantastic. You will got a great Used Car
or Truck Deal during our two day "Pig Out" and got a chance to
 sample some of Famous Dave's Best Ribs and Fixin's. It is a great time for young and old, so come on down.

For 2009 Papa's will host our 4th annual Pig Out and Used Car and Truck sale in October featuring
Martin Rosol's Hot Dogs and Kelly's for all of our guests.  Watch for an update on the exact date.
  It will be another great Pig Out for sure.
