Due to the threat of Hurricane Irene Dream Cruise and Dream Ride 2011 has been postponed. The decision needed to be made early because we have such a large amount of local Police, State Police, Fire, EMS and other emergency personnel who needed to be made available to their departments. On Thursday night the Newington Chamber of Commerce along with the Connecticut Street Legends Car Club will present the 5th annual "Cruising Newington Classic Car Show". This event to be held on Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 5:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Market Square. This show always attracts many nice classic and just has a great spirit about it. So the University of Connecticut men's basketball team won the national championship. The Uconn Football team went to a BCS bowl game. The Huskies women's basketball team made the final four (again) and the men's soccer team finished in the top 20. Maybe the most unbelievable story at Uconn is the men's baseball team. Teams from the northeast normally seem to get invited to the south so the southern teams can beat up on them. The Dream Cruise 2011 dates have been announced.The Dream Cruise runs in conjunction with the Dream Ride which will be in it's 11th year. This extraordinary event draws thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from across the northeast to raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut.
