Dodge recently announced plans to add a new crossover to their lineup. Unfortunately, to make room for the new model, Dodge had to remove a longstanding favorite from showrooms around the country. That's right, say goodbye to the Dodge Grand Caravan. After 2013, a new Dodge model will take its place.

Parent company, Chrysler, has cited several reasons for this decision, including sales projections that show that there's a higher demand for crossovers than minivans. Another reason, according to CEO Sergio Marchionne, is that the Grand Caravan is very similar to the Chrysler Town & Country. He says, quite simply, "We cannot have the same type of vehicle in the showroom because the consumer is not stupid."¹

Official word from the auto maker is that the new crossover will launch in 2014. They hope to see minivan loyalists stick to the Chrysler Town & Country while the new crossover will give former van owners the reliability and space they're looking for with a "sporty" edge.
